As Hongkong is divided into four different island
infact Hongkong has 230 islands but this four are the most popular.Hongkong
is lying in the southeast of China. The total area of Hongkong is 1078sq kilometers
includying New territories & 235 outlying islands, occupy the largest
part of this (955 square kilometres), whereas Hong Kong Island is only 77.5
square kilometres large and Kowloon, the peninsula north of Hong Kong Island,
only 45.5 square kilometres. The terrain is hilly to mountainous with steep
slopes. The highest mountain is Tai Mo Shan in the New Territories with 958
m altitude.
Hong Kong, especially Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, is one of the most densely
populated areas in the world; more than 6 million people live there. 95 percent
of the population are Chinese. Cantonese is the most widely spoken Chinese dialect.
Hong Kong has an outstanding natural deepwater harbour, and much its present
wealth come from trading. It is still an important international trading post
but now also a a powerful manufacturing base and one of the world's largest
financial centres.
Hongkong- Island: The capital of Hongkong is Victoria which is in Hongkong Island
& Central is the financial and economical hub of Hongkong. There
is a genuine forest of tall skyscrapers with the green mountains behind them,
the most extravagant among the many vagant buildings is 180m high Hongkong Bank,
designed by Norman Frost. In Hongkong Island there are few places which are
very polpular are Central, Wanchai , Causwaybay. There are few resediantial
ares also they are Heng Fa Chuen, Taikoo Shing ..etc. Wanchai is considered
as red light in Hongkong Island side, there are a lot of pubs & bars. The
other good thing is that Central has a harbour & from there you can take
a ferry to Tsim sha Tsui thats Kowloon. The star ferries are famous image
in Hongkong. They are green & white in colour they are in use from 1880's
& still the prices are same $1.7 for upper deck & $1.4 for lower deck.
It would be a great idea to take a trip in star ferry because it gives a faboulous
view of harbour & lives you with a impression of the daily life of Hongkong.
The Peak is one of the most best sightseeing place here from there you get the
preview of the whole harbour , Island & Kowloon. It would be a great
idea if you carried a binocular with you, at Peak take a ride in Peak tram its
considered as 'must' so do travel in peak tram beacause it takes on a stiff
drive of 544meters hight and its the highest point of Hongkong Island. There
are alot of cinema halls and shopping mall's here. There is a Hongkong peak
garden at the bottom of Admiralty station which is full of flowers & butterflies
to relax & take snaps this is the best place. Near Admiralty there is an
amusment park which is " Ocean Park" there are a lot of fun
and exciting rides such as roller coasters, water rides, etc.., The best part
in ocean park is the ' Dolphin show '
