Good Chinese food is found every where in Hong Kong. The resturant in the hotels are mostly good, but very expensive, but the resturants on outlying islands are fairly cheap & good. The seafood is meatsexcellent especially in New Territories. The major Chinese cuisines are: Cantonese, Peking, Shaghai, Szechuan, Taiwan, or Chinnese vegetarain food.

Western food and other Asian cuisines are also represented fairly, e.g: Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese, Korean, Malaysian. The Hong Kong tourist association ( HKTA ) Japanese foodoffers special restaurant guides that are available free of charge at HKTA information and gift center , e.g:  at Tsim Sha Tsui star ferry pier on Kowloon side. ppl.jpg (11716 bytes)

In Hong Kong people take food very seriously because they like to remain fit and keep their bodies in shape, they drink tea & hot water most of the time in the day to burn their fats. Its a belief that the more hot water & tea you drink the more fats are burned. The traditional chinese people  eat ' Dimsum' early in Dim Sumthe morning as a part of breakfast and than have soup, noodles & rice as their lunch and for dinner the same thing goes. While for other Chinese families try to pick-up their snacks from Mac.Donalds, KFC, Olivers and than againprawns their lunch is also ordered from a pass by tuck-shop or resturant and for dinner they take away the food from resturants or hotel. If not that than they with the whole family decide to go out for dinner but the main thing is that the whole family should eat dinner in evening together because the whole day they all are out.

The family life in Hongkong is very busy like the city because Hong Kong is an expensive place to live, every family member goes to earn some money. The father mother goes to earn money for their children and if the child is old enough to do a part time work he/she does that. most of the familes in Hong Kong keep a maid to take care of their kids. The grandparents stay by themselves they dont stay with their children & grandchildren.
