SHERINGHAM'S
NEW CONTRACT
Manchester
United striker Teddy Sheringham has confirmed that he is all set
to accept a new one-year deal at Old Trafford. It had been claimed
that Sheringham - the Premiership's top scorer with 20 goals this
season - had wanted a two-year deal. But
the 35-year-old insists that he is happy to stay, despite reported
interest from West Ham and his former club Spurs in signing him
during the summer. |

It
is believed that the new one-year deal on offer from the Premiership
champions will see Sheringham paid £35,000 a week, although details
still remain to be ironed out before the one-time Millwall star
puts pen to paper.Sheringham said: 'I have been offered a one-year
contract, which is no problem at all for me. 'A 12-month deal
keeps me quite happy, because if I'm not in the team and not playing
well, then I wouldn't want to be here. A year-to-year situation
for me at my age is quite right. 'You have to take things as they
come when you get to my age. I am quite happy with things on that
score." Sheringham's agent Barry Nevill has replied to United's
offer and is waiting for the club to come back to him for further
talks.
