Record for Five Wickets and 100 Runs in the Same Match in One day International Cricket :- Vivian Richards is the only player to have taken five wickets in a one day innings and score a hundred. He did it against New Zealand at Dunedin in 1986/87 when he made 119 and took 5/41.

Record for a Hat-Trick on Two Occassions in One Day International Cricket :- Wasim Akram and Saqlain Mushtaq of Pakistan are the only bowlers to have taken a hat trick on two occasions in ODIs.

Record for 300 Wickets and 3000 Runs in One Day International Cricket :- Pakistan's Wasim Akram is the only all rounder to have taken over 300 wickets and 3000 runs in ODI's.

Record for the Best Bowling Figures in One Day International Cricket :- Sri Lanka's spin wizard Muthiah Muralitharan claimed 7/30 against India at Sharjah on October 27, 2000. Sri Lanka won the match by 68 runs. These figures are the best in one-day cricket and usurp Aaqib Javed's 7/37 also against India at Sharjah in 1991/92. This also included a hat trick of LBW's the only such instance in a one day match. At the age of 19 years and 81 days Aaqib was also the youngest bowler to take a hat trick.Even Waqur Younis as a Pakistani captain has achieved the figure of 7/31 against England on June 17,2001.

Record for Scoring the Fastest Century in One Day International Cricket :- Shahid Afridi of Pakistan holds the record for the fastest century in one day cricket. He smashed a breathtaking 102 off 37 balls against Sri Lanka at Nairobi in 1996/97. It was only the second match of his career. He struck an amazing 17 boundaries in that innings. And 11 of the 17 boundaries were sixers. In the process he also became the youngest centurion at the age of 16 years and 217 days.

.Record for Scoring the Fastest Fifty in One Day International Cricket :- Sanath Jaysuriya of Sri Lanka holds the record for the fastest fifty. He achieved the landmark in 17 balls against Pakistan at Singapore in 95/96.

Record for a Hat Trick in the World Cup:- Chetan Sharma of India and Saqlain Mushtaq of Pakistan are the only two bowlers to have taken a hat trick in World Cup matches.

Record for the Highest Score Chased by a Team in One Day International Cricket :- The highest score chased successfully in a one-day match is 316 made by India and Australia. It is a strange coincidence that both these teams chased the scores against Pakistan.

Record for the Highest Partnership for any Wicket in One Day International Cricket :- The highest partnership for any wicket is 331 between Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar against New Zealand at Hyderabad.

Record for the Highest Score by a Bastman in One Day International Cricket :- Saeed Anwar holds the record for the highest score by any batsman in a One day innings. His score of 194 against India in the Independence Cup at Chennai in 96/97 is still to be beaten.

Record for the Highest Score by a Team to Lose a Match in One Day International Cricket :- The highest score made by a defeated team batting second is 329 made by Sri Lanka against West Indies at Sharjah. The Lankans lost the match by 4 runs.

Record for Maximum Dismissals by a 'Keeper in One Day International Cricket :- Ian Healy the legendary Australian Wicket Keeper holds the record for effecting the maximum dismissals.By taking 195 catches and stumping 39 batsmen he has a tally of 234 dismissals, which is still to be surpassed.

Record for the Lowest Score by a Team in One Day International Cricket :- 43 is the lowest score in a One Day International. The dubious distinction for this record goes to Pakistan. They scored this against the West Indies team at Cape Town in 92/93 on a minefield of a pitch. The team lasted only 19.5 overs.

Record for the Maximum Number of One Day Internationals Played :- India's Mohd Azharuddin holds the record for the maximum number of ODI matches played by a player. He has played in 334 matches. He has also the most number of catches having pouched 156 catches in his illustrious career. This statistic isn't very surprising, as he is a brilliant fielder.

Record for the Highest Score by a Team in One Day International Cricket :- The highest score ever achieved by a team in a One Day International is 398/5 by Sri Lanka. They made this gigantic score in the 1996 World Cup league match against Kenya at Kandy.

Record for the Highest Wicket-Taker in One Day International Cricket :- Pakistan's Wasim Akram is the highest wicket taker in One day internationals having taken a staggering 442 wickets. His fast bowling partner Waqar Younis with 340 wickets stands a very distant second to him.

Record for the Highest Wickets for a Spinner in One Day International Cricket :- India's Anil Kumble holds the record for the maximum number of wickets in the spin bowling category with a tally of 274 wickets.

Record for Scoring the Most Centuries in One Day International Cricket :- Sachin Tendulkar of India holds the record for the most centuries in ODI having registered an unbelievable number or 30 centuries.

Record for the Most Economical Bowling Figures in One Day International Cricket :- (This will come as a surprise to a lot of cricket lovers) West Indian opening bat Phil Simmons holds the record for the most economical bowling figures by a bowler. Simmons produced a dream spell against Pakistan at Sydney when he returned figures of 10-8-3-4.

Record for the Highest Opening Partnership in One Day International Cricket :- Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly of India hold the record for the highest opening partnership in a one day international. The pair put on 252 runs against Sri Lanka at Colombo in the finals of the Independence Cup in Sri Lanka.

Record for the Most Number of Catches by any Fielder in Test Cricket :- Ex-Australian captain Mark Taylor holds the record for the most number of catches in Test Cricket. He has taken a record 157 catches in his test career.

Record for the Highest Score chased by a Team in the Fourth Innings of a Test Match :- 406/6 by India against the West Indies at Port of Spain in 1975-76 is the highest score successfully chased by a team in the fourth innings of a test match. India needed to score 403 to win the match.

Record for the Lowest Score by a Team in a Test Match :- This none too impressive record is held by New Zealand, who scored 26 against England at Auckland in 1954-55.

Record for the Lowest Fourth Innings Score Defended by a Team in a Test Match :- The lowest fourth innings score that was successfully defended was by Australia against England in the test match at the Oval in 1882. England needed 85 to win but they were bowled out for 77 thereby giving victory to Australia by 7 runs.

Record for the only Batsman who has scored centuries against all Test playing countries :- The only batsman to have scored a hundred against all test-playing countries is Steve Waugh. The Australian Captain achieved this feat when he made 150 against India at Adelaide in 1999 - 2000. (An exception to this is Bangladesh but this is because Australia have not yet played any Test against the new entrants in the Test arena.)

Record for the Most Number of Ducks in Test Cricket :- West Indian Courtney Walsh holds the dubious distinction of having registered a record number of 39 ducks in Test Cricket.

Record for Bowling Two Consecutive Hat-Tricks in Test Cricket :- Ex-Pakistan captain Wasim Akram is the only bowler to have claimed two consecutive hattricks.This performance was against Sri Lanka in Coco-Cola tri test match tournament final.

Record for the Maximum Number Runs by a Captain in Test Cricket :- Mark Taylor has the distinction of having scored the highest number of test runs in an innings for a captain. He achieved the feat when he scored an unbeaten 334 against Pakistan at Peshawar in 1998/99.

Record for the Highest Partnership in Test Cricket :- The highest partnership ever in a test match is a massive 576 runs by Sanath Jaysuriya (340) and Roshan Mahanama (225) against India at Colombo in 1997/98.

Record for Scoring 1000 Runs and Taking 100 Wickets in Test Cricket:- Ian Botham has the magnificent record of scoring 1000 runs and taking 100 wickets in only 21 tests.

Record for the Batsman who have Scored Centuries each Innings of a Test Match :- Sunil Gavaskar has achieved this remarkable feat three times in his illustrious career. The other Indian batsmen who have achieved this distinction are Vijay Hazare and Rahul Dravid.

Record for the Batsman who has Scored Centuries his first Three Test Matches :- Ex-India captain Mohammad Azharuddin is the only test batsman to have achieved the unique distinction of scoring a hundred in each of his first three Test matches.

Record for Scoring 100 Runs and Taking 5 Wickets in the same Test Match :- Ian Botham has achieved the amazing feat of scoring a hundred and taking 5 wickets an amazing 6 times. Ian Botham has also done it twice in the same match against India at Bombay in 1980. He and Jacques Kallis have also achieved the feat of scoring a hundred, a fifty and taking five wickets in the same match. Botham did it in the Ashes series against England in 1981 at Headingley while Kallis did it against West Indies at Cape Town in 1999.

Record for the Most Number of 10 wicket hauls in Test Cricket:- Richard Hadlee has taken 10 wickets in a match a breathtaking 9 times. He also holds the record for the most number of five wicket hauls having done it 36 times.

Record for the Fastest Century in Test Cricket:- The unstoppable Vivian Richards holds the record for the fastest century in Test Cricket. He scored a hundred in an amazing 56 balls against England at St. Johns in 1985-86.

Record for the Fastest 1000 runs in Test Cricket:- The record for scoring the fastest 1000 runs in test cricket belongs to West Indian great Everton Weekes who achieved it in just 9 matches and 12 innings.

Record for the Fastest 300 Wickets in Test Cricket:- Dennis Lillie is the bowler to have reached the landmark of 300 wickets the fastest. He captured 300 wkts in just 56 tests.
